Grant Garrigues, MD
AOC Chief Medical Officer
We are thrilled to announce that Grant Garrigues, MD has been promoted from Associate Chief Medical Officer to Chief Medical Officer of the Academic Orthopaedic Consortium (AOC). Dr. Garrigues has been a driving force in shaping the future of the Academic Orthopaedic Consortium, and his continued leadership and vision will undoubtedly strengthen the AOC’s mission of advancing education, research, and collaboration within and across our elite academic orthopedic community. Further, his keen sense for the business of orthopaedics serves the AOC well in how we might improve our collaboration with those companies that share the musculoskeletal space with the AOC.
Dr. Garrigues will succeed L. Scott Levin, MD, who has served as Chief Medical Officer of the AOC with distinction over the past 10 years. Under Dr. Levin’s exceptional leadership, the AOC has grown into the premier academic orthopaedic organization that brings together over 5,000 academic orthopaedic leaders from around the country, fostering meaningful relationships and groundbreaking advancements to position all for success. In recognition of his outstanding service, Dr. Levin will assume the title of Chief Medical Officer-Emeritus. His contributions have laid the foundation for continued innovation and success.
“Over the last 10 years I have served as the Chief Medical Officer with honor and pride. As John F. Kennedy said in his 1961 inaugural Presidential address “the torch must be passed to the next generation. “ I have the privilege of participating in the training of Grant Garrigues joining his Duke residency and have witnessed his meteoric trajectory as a leader in shoulder and elbow surgery and academic orthopedics. His commitment to this organization is unwavering and his personal attributes, character, scholarship and business savvy make him a natural pick for him to succeed me after I relinquish my role after so many years. Is the right thing for me to step aside and have an individual of his energy and capability hold the reins as Chief Medical Officer of the Academic Orthopedic Consortium. I remain steadfast in my commitment to this organization and believe that Grant will work tirelessly to take us to greater heights. With appreciation to all for your trust in me as I complete my role for the AOC.” L. Scott Levin, MD, AOC Chief Medical Officer-Emeritus
Reflecting on his new role, Dr. Garrigues shared his enthusiasm: “It is a tremendous honor to be named Chief Medical Officer of the Academic Orthopaedic Consortium. I am deeply grateful for the opportunity to continue the incredible work that Dr. Levin has done over the past decade. His legacy of excellence is something I will strive to uphold as we look toward the future of academic orthopaedics with great excitement and purpose.”
Please join us in celebrating Dr. Garrigues’ well-deserved promotion and in expressing our heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Levin for his years of dedicated service and leadership.
