Last week, we shared an overview of the AOC’s new peer-specific leadership coaching huddles for Orthopaedic Chairs, Vice Chairs, Division Chiefs, and Program Directors.
To introduce this work more broadly, the AOC will be hosting an informational webinar for academic orthopaedic leaders who are interested in learning more about how these leadership huddles are designed, how they function, and how they support leadership performance in real-world academic settings.
Why the AOC Is Launching Leadership Huddles
Across the AOC, Chairs and senior leaders have asked for a small, protected forum where they can step out of day-to-day operations, pressure-test decisions, and engage in candid discussion with peers who truly understand the realities of their roles.
In response, the AOC is launching quarterly, peer-specific leadership coaching huddles, including:
- Chair-only leadership huddles
- Vice Chair leadership huddles
- Division Chief leadership huddles
- Program Director leadership huddles
Each huddle is composed exclusively of individuals in the same leadership role and is designed to address the distinct responsibilities, pressures, and leadership challenges associated with that position.
About the Leadership Huddles
- Limited to 10 participants per peer group
- Each peer group meets quarterly
- No cost to participate
- Strict confidentiality and no recordings
- Focused on open, real-world leadership challenges, not didactic teaching
- Protected time to learn best practices from your peers
- Facilitated by experienced third-party professionals with deep physician leadership coaching expertise
Participation is offered on a first-come, first-served basis. Participants will be asked to identify their top leadership challenge in advance so that time together is used efficiently and meaningfully.
